Islamic Teachings in the Modern Malay Novel Interlok

Abstract
Islam has been the religion of the Malays in the Malay archipelagos since the 14th century A.C. This paper intends to describe the influences of Islam on the Malay literature by and citing textual evidences or proofs from the Malay novel entitled Interlok written by Abdullah Hussain, born in 1920. The main purposes of this paper are to present the Islamic teachings found in the novel as well as the forms of Islamic teachings such as theological, ethical and ritual.
